Slyce Amazes Retailers with New Shopping Apps

Slyce.org is amazing e-commerce store owners with their new visual search technology that they showcased at Shop.org which ran from October 5 to October 7, according to an original article that appeared on Yahoo! Finance. Retailers should be very excited about the products that have already been released along with those in Beta development.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive for Slyce’s Universal Scanner that allows customers to snap a photo of any item around them and to find the exact or similar items online. The Universal Scanner also allows customers to find the item using coupons, real world images, QR codes, barcodes and coupons.

Also exciting retailers at the show was Slyce’s Insight program that allows retailers to understand how customers are interacting with visuals when searching for products.
Brick and mortar retailers are also excited about the company’s Snap-to-Coupon app that allows users to snap a photo of any coupon, regardless of where it is found, and alerts them when they are near a location that sells that item.

These merchants are also excited about the company’s Out-of-Stock Mitigation Tool Using Attribute Matching app that allows shoppers to find alternatives to out of stock items based on attributes. While just in Beta development, retailers are anxious for the finishing touches to be put on this exciting app.

The Life Of Jaime Garcia Dias

Jaime Garcia Dias is a famous Brazilian author who has written over 20 books, 10 of which were written before the age of 30. Now 45, Dias is known not only for being a well-known fictional author, but also for his work at helping to promote Brazilian Literature.

Born in 1970 in Rio Di Janeiro, Dias’ passion for writing began at the young age of 15 he’s stated on LinkedIn. By the age of 18, he had his first published novel. He attributes his love of writing to his father, author, Arnaldo Dias, and went on to study literature at the College of Rio De Janeiro.

In 1995, at the age of 25, Dias was able to pass along his passion for writing to other young Brazilian writers whose dreams were to become future authors. Dias accepted a teaching position at the Carioca Literature Academy. Gaining notoriety for his academic methods, Professor Dias went on to become Vice President of the academy just 2 years later. Dias eventually went on to become President of the academy in 2007, after being honored for his many years of commitment and hard work.

It was after receiving the honorable, White Crane Literary Award in 2001, that Dias captured the attention of the famous Argentinian writer, Josué Gomez. With Gomez’s help, Dias’ novel Caiu do Céu(Fell From Heaven), went on to become a best-seller in South America.

Dias’ current novel, Chronicles That Made Me A Man, are based on a compilation of weekly stories originally written for his weekly column in the newspaper, Journal do Brasil. These stories are based on memories from his childhood of his father.

Jaime Garcia Dias continues his love of writing and teaching in Rio De Janeiro, as well as his love for producing online videos. In 2015, Dias was honored with the distinguished ABC award for his exceptional work in Brazilian Literature.

Andy Wirth Bringing the Good Life to You in Squaw Valley

Andrew Wirth, or Andy as he prefers to go by, has been in the hotel business for most of his professional life. In fact, he has the lifeblood of this industry right inside of him, as some of the earliest parks and hotels in the country were managed by his grandparents. With such a long line of individuals who love to work in the service industry, it only makes sense that Andy Wirth does the same. Now, Andy Wirth is originally from Neubrucke out of West Germany. As part of West Germany it proved to be much easier for him to travel around and to experience different countries and ways of life. This eventually allowed him to obtain his Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University. He also attended school in Scotland at Edinburgh University. After graduation, he remained inside of the state of Colorado as he served as a backcountry ranger in the Rocky Mountain National Parks department. This is right along the same line as his grandfather, who works as a former U.S. National Park Service director.

During his time in the Rocky Mountain National Parks department, he worked in the wilderness area and also served as a member of the Hot Shot Wild Land Fire Crew, which worked to put out fires in New Mexico.

He eventually went to take on an internship with the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation in 1986. He worked throughout the company for the better part of 20 years, at which point he was promoted to the parent company and eventually named the Chief marketing Officer. Not a bad way to go from internship. Eventually, he move to a different company and helped create the Mountain Village Partnership, which went on to partner with Squaw Valley. By 2010, he was appointed the President and CEO of Squaw Valley in California, which is a position he holds on today. All of this makes for a very important position as he has brought in more attention and recognition to Squaw Valley since taking over. He is recognized both by his peers and by those who stay in the hotel.

James Dondero Appointed NexPoint Trust Chairman

NexPoint Residential Trust Inc. has made an announcement of its new appointments into the Board of Directors. The appointments are that of Arthur Laffer and James Dondero. Mr. Laffer was appointed to be the Chairman of the Compensation Committee while Mr. Dondero was appointed as the Chairman of the Board. NXRT Chief Financial Officer expressed confidence and optimism in the appointments, going further to point out the over 30 years of Mr. Dondero’s proven experience in the industry.

James Dondero is the Co-Founder as well as President of Highland Capital Management. Dondero was involved in co-founding Highland Capital Management with Mark Okada in 1993. Mr. Dondero has a vast experience in the credit and equity markets that spans over 30 years. This experience has played a significant role in that it has enabled Mr. Dondero to play a key role in the pioneering of new classes of credit assets. Highland Capital Management has played a major role in the introduction of Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) market. It has also been instrumental in developing credit oriented solutions for its investors worldwide. Under the management of Highland Capital and its affiliates is $21 billion in assets.

Prior to the founding of Highland Capital Management, Mr. Dondero worked as the Chief Investment Officer at the GIC subsidiary of Protective Life. During his tenure, he was able to grow the company from inception to a net worth of over $2 billion in a span of five years. Before joining Protective Life, Mr. Dondero was a Corporate Bond Analyst at American Express. He later went on to become the Portfolio Manager at the firm, with approximately $1 billion in fixed income funds under his management. His career began on Marketwatch with his stint at the Morgan Guaranty Training Program, where he was an analyst.

Dan Newlin’s Miracle Project

Because of the Dan Newlin Miracle Project, seven children at the Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital with cancer were able to meet Evander Holyfield, the former Undisputed World Champion. The grateful children got the chance to visit with the Champion for several hours at the Law Offices of Attorney Newlin in Orlando, Florida. Newlin was inspired to make the meeting happen when he watched an in-flight video while flying back to Orlando from South America.

Newlin felt that someone like Holyfield who was able to come back and become a champion after experiencing a low point in his life would be very inspirational for the children. He knew that Holyfield has experienced more ups and downs than any other boxer in history and that his experience would help them understand their situation better.

Holyfield was also very glad to be a part of the Dan Newlin Miracle Project. He believed it was natural for him to be a part of the project because of what he has been through in his life. He is really glad to be able to inspire and give back to everyone he meets. Holyfield’s mother has been his greatest source of inspiration.

The children were very lucky to get to spend time with the Greatest Cruise-weight champion in history. They are fighters too. They wore boxing gloves and red while they cheered their thanks for Holyfield. Their happiness could be heard all through the building.
